Flowers, Birds, & Berries 

The Flowers, Birds & Berries series is inspired by photographs of birds taken by my family and friends. I want this design to convey a sense of playfulness through the expressive gestures and bright colors of each bird. These pieces are high-temperature stoneware fired in an electric kiln. They are either wheel thrown or hand built but all are completely hand made. Each piece is hand painted with lead free glazes which are food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe

Flowers & Pigment 

Flowers and Pigment is an extension of my RISD graduate thesis work. I like flowers at all different stages of beauty: the anticipation of newly formed flower buds, the brilliance of a full bloom, and the sorrow before the decay. I apply my own color glazes to each piece of work before the 2nd firing which gives it a glassy surface that is food safe and microwave/dishwasher safe

Imprinted Maple and Ginkgo

Each piece of my Maple/Ginkgo stoneware pottery is hand thrown or sculpted by me. Real leaves or greenery decoration is then carefully imprinted onto the ware while it’s still in the green (moldable) stages and burned off during the first firing. I apply my own color glazes to each piece of work before the 2nd firing which gives it a glassy surface that is food safe and micro-wave/dishwasher safe

Imprinted Wildflowers

Each piece of my Botanical stoneware pottery is hand thrown or sculpted by me. Real leaves, greenery, and flower decoration is then carefully imprinted onto the ware while it’s still in the green (moldable) stages and burned off during the first firing. I apply my own color glazes to each piece of work before the 2nd firing which gives it a glassy surface that is food safe and micro-wave/dishwasher safe

Chicks and Roosters

This collection is inspired by childhood memories of my mother hatching chicks in my sweater drawer. It’s always a wonderful several days anticipating the chicks to hatch. These memories have stayed with me, so when I want to be reminded of this time I make the fun and happy rooster and chick pieces.
